Gau Seva - Serving the Sacred Cows

Honoring and protecting cows as our mothers, following the Vedic tradition of Krishna consciousness

Why Gau Seva is Important

The spiritual and practical significance of cow protection

Givers of Purity and Grace

The Vedas glorify cows as gaū-mātā — divine mothers who sustain life through their milk and bless devotees on the path of bhakti and dharma.

Harmony with Nature

By caring for cows, we embrace a lifestyle aligned with nature—supporting organic farming, clean energy, and spiritually grounded rural self-sufficiency.

Compassion

Protecting cows teaches us compassion for all living beings, a fundamental principle of Krishna consciousness.

Environmental Benefits

Cow dung and urine have immense medicinal and agricultural value, reducing chemical dependency.

Our Goshala

ISKCON Burla maintains a beautiful goshala (cow shelter) where we care for over 20 cows, including indigenous breeds like --.

Our goshala provides:

  • Organic feed and clean water
  • Spacious shelters with proper ventilation
  • Regular medical check-ups
  • Protection from harsh weather
